My Instagram has been flooded (in a good way) with photos of people's Economy Block Along creations. Check out #economyblockalong to see what I mean. It's a great way to frame fussy cuts and use up scraps. Once you get started, it's hard to stop! The free pattern and tutorial can be found on Red Pepper Quilts here.
I realized, after the fact, that my subconscious designed this block. Every night we've been watching the deer stand in the moonlit snow, munching away on the hedges outside our bedroom window. See what I mean? Envision tall shrubs instead of mushrooms and it's pretty funny.
I like how the houses line up here. This block is becoming a replacement for my cathead-a-day habit from December's Catvent Quilt Along. All the scraps I used are from scrap packs found at Sew Fresh Fabrics. They get snapped up quickly when they're listed in the shop.
These two blocks will find a new home, as they're for the Seacoast Modern Quilt Guild's block lottery. Someone will win all the blocks made by members and have a fun quilt to piece together! I wonder who it will be.
OH, and I almost forgot. One of the things on my 2014 to-do list was to redesign the banner on the blog. It's up! There are a few tweaks that need to happen with the nav bar (font issues) but I'm feeling pretty good about it. Chicopee triangles make me smile. What do you think?
