As a thank you to all my supportive readers, I am offering Fruit Ninja as a free pattern. There are two pages — the paper piecing template and the cutting instructions. Based on what I've seen from my terrific testers, many variations can be derived from this simple pattern. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
The original idea came to me while watching the kids slice watermelons and other fruit in the eponymous game on my iPhone.
Four templates go together to make one 12" (finished) four-pointed star.
The backing is Ditsy in Radiance from Art Gallery Fabric's Nouvelle line. I bound it with Jewel in Coral from Lizzy House's Catnap collection. What could have been a quilt with a hard edge wound up feeling kinda girly and I'm keeping this one for myself. :)
Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Quilting created this lovely swirly custom quilting pattern.
A big thank you goes out to my wonderful pattern testers. I will be sharing their projects soon. If you create your own Fruit Ninja, don't forget to share your project on Instagram with #fruitninjaquilt and tag me at @leighlaurelstudios so I don't miss it!
