I did it. I finally cut into my Wee Wander. What held me back? I'm not entirely sure, but my idea came together when I let go of my notion that I needed to cut it up into small pieces. This is part of my 'keep it simple, stupid' plan for 2014. With a five-year-old daughter who loves everything pink, purple and horses, Wee Wander is an obvious choice. Note her boots, above. The girl has her grammy's old (ahem, vintage) English saddle in her room.
The tutorial for this 29 x 29" wall hanging is on the Sizzix blog today — the Dala horses are die cut and appliquéd onto solids that coordinate with Wee Wander.
I've had the backing fabric in my stash, waiting for the right project. I decided to use it for the binding as well. As soon as I get a hanging sleeve on the back, this piece will go over her bed where there's a big blank space — we didn't want to decorate with anything heavy that could fall on her. The rest of my Wee Wander fat quarter bundle is going to be a quilt. I've nearly finished the top; it should be ready in a few weeks, right in time for her 5th birthday. :)
