Jessica Levitt's new Cascade line for Windham Fabrics is fabulous. I grew up in Oregon with the Cascade mountain range in my peripheral vision everywhere I went, so I was most excited to see what Jess was up to. With its roots in Art Nouveau, Cascade has an aesthetic that I can really wrap my head around. Cascade will be shipping in early 2015.
The angles in the pillow aren't right ones and the fabric widths differ, so I paper pieced it.
Working with bold, directional fabric was fun, and the colors are unexpected and wonderful. The prints have names such as Drip, Float, Glisten and Splash, and the colors are called Bayou, Haze, Mineral, Ice, Deep Sea, Mauve Mist, Clay and Sea Foam. It makes me miss the Pacific Northwest.
For the back I used Splash from the Pond colorway. I have a feeling I'll come back to this print for other projects soon. I also think that Drip is going to be a new go-to low-volume favorite.
Bonus: It's literally the perfect fabric to practice your straight-line quilting!
This is the chair it will live on when it returns from Fall Market.
