The moment I saw this fabric I knew I wanted to make a Halloween quilt with it. It's Witch Hazel by October Afternoon, kindly provided for this tutorial by Riley Blake Designs. It was designed with Halloween in mind but could be easily adapted to any color scheme. For the full tutorial please visit the Sizzix blog here.
I tend to shy away from novelty fabric, but the kids loved help assembling the tumbler shapes on my design wall. They are enjoying sitting under it and pointing out all the witches, cats, stars and moons. The text prints pop, too.
The green star print is part of the Witch Hazel line; I saved it for the binding.
I worked scraps into the back to make it interesting. The spiderweb quilting was done by Melissa Kelley of Sew Shabby Quilting. It's perfect, even if you don't like spiders!
Full instructions are on the Sizzix blog. Happy early Halloween!!
