A couple of days ago I decided we needed a few more Christmas pillows in the house. In between sewing and knitting gifts, I whipped this up. It's a 20" square, double-sided pillow with a zipper closure.
I pulled 20 different red, green and white fabrics from my stash and used my Sizzix Fabi with the BigZ 2 x 4" (finished) rectangle die to die cut 100 2.5 x 4.5" rectangles (five of each print). There are 50 rectangles on each side of the pillow.
I laid out one side, five across and ten down and used the other half for the second side.
This is how I chain piece so I don't get the layout all messed up. It's a little goofy but it works!
I fused both sides of the pillow to Pellon Fusible Fleece and quilted with simple lines around the seams. For my easy zipper tutorial, please see this post. Now of course I want to make one of these for every holiday.
I also finally took this Emblem Block off my design wall and turned it into a pillow — one less WIP, and another home decor item that can be left out until Valentine's Day! 18" and 20" Soft Touch pillowforms are courtesy of Fairfield Poly-Fil.
Time to refocus my creativity onto wrapping, baking, cooking and enjoy family time. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
