Having spent the early part of my career in publishing it's no surprise that I am addicted to awesome books. To be more specific, I hoard collect well-designed, well-written, informative, enjoyable books with compelling photography. Modern Triangle Quilts, the latest book by my lovely friend Becca Bryan hits all those sweet spots and then some. I am so proud of her; somehow while juggling four kids, a busy husband and BruceWaynetheWeinerDog she managed to write this book AND design her first fabric collection—Panache for Robert Kaufman! I KNOW. But I have a lot of information to include here so let me get to it. I'm giving away a copy of Modern Triangle Quilts and sharing the info for the charity quilt auction at the end of this post. Each of us on the blog tour made a few blocks for the quilt.
One of the best things about this book is that she gives you 70 patterns for individual triangles but also guides you through making 11 different quilt patterns (such as Wake, above) or encourages you do your own thing and use the triangles to achieve endless possibilities. So cool.
This is another of the patterns, called Upstart. I love how a few of the triangles are supersized.
Here are the two blocks I made, incorporating Robert Kaufman Kona solids with an Alison Glass print and a Hoffman Me+You batik. I left for QuiltCon without photographing them, so I stole borrowed the iron from Giuseppe at the Andover booth and took this photo on the cobbled streets of Savannah.
This is the Well Wishes Quilt that combines all of our blocks. Isn't it fabulous? And her quilting!! So. This quilt could be yours! Becca had the great idea to add a charity aspect to the blog tour. From April 2-18 you can purchase a raffle ticket here for $5 for a chance to win the quilt AND you also get a PDF copy of the pattern for the quilt. You can enter more than once. 100% of the proceeds will go Living Water, an international charity that focuses on bringing water wells to communities without a safe place to get clean water. Please visit Bryan House Quilts for additional information.
In addition to the awesomeness, above, Stash Books is giving away one copy of Modern Triangle Quilts to one of YOU (a US winner will receive a hard copy and if the winner is International a PDF will be emailed). To be entered to win, simply leave a comment on this post, and please be sure to include an email address if you're a no-reply commenter. The giveaway will close on April 18th and the winner will be contacted via email. Good luck!
